Industrial-TX and Industrial-RX beacons are engineered for harsh, non-office environments where standard beacons fail. These weatherproof ultrasonic beacons withstand rain and dust while delivering reliable indoor positioning for forklifts, autonomous robots, and warehouse automation systems. Learn how industrial-grade beacons compare to standard hardware and Mini-RX variants for demanding RTLS applications.

0:00 Hello, everyone. Today I'll be taking a look at our new set of industrial beacons, namely the Industrial-RX and TX. Like in other videos, I'll also be drawing some comparisons to previous models like the Beacon HW v4.9 and Mini-RX. As you might have guessed from the name, the Industrial-RX and TX are intended for industrial purposes. By that I mean non-office-like situations. When, for example, your forklift works both indoors and outdoors, factors like temperature changes, rain, and dust will not break the beacon. While the beacons are IP67 rated, I would still like to emphasize that the beacons are not meant to work in the rain. What the rating means is that water and dust will not damage the device. Now, what's good about the industrial beacons compared to the v4.9 and Mini-RX? First of all, all of the sensors are protected in these versions. The sensors are covered.

0:58 The special membrane in this version is even more durable with metal sensors. Another plus is the external antenna, which the Mini-RX doesn't have. This allows the industrial beacons to work in 433 megahertz frequency. In addition is 915. Finally, the industrial beacons are equipped with several interface options. First of all, you have USB through a special cable, then virtual UART over USB. You are at 3.3 volt and RS-485. Optionally, you can choose to replace RS-485 with CAN. The industrial beacon supports an external battery. It gives you flexibility as you can have a larger or smaller battery based on your needs. Another option is an IP67 rated power converter. Although we do have the battery as an option, we still recommend

1:56 using a fixed power supply, especially in low temperatures, because battery life is significantly reduced. So if it's possible, use the fixed external power source. In terms of sensitivity, the Mini-RX is similar to the industrial RX. Like we mentioned previously, the Mini-RX can only receive and the Mini-TX only transmit. The same goes for the industrial RX and TX. This separation allows the RX to receive better than the v4.9 and the TX to transmit better. We have several versions of the industrial TX available: the standard 31 and 25 kilohertz, plus 19 and 45 kilohertz for Inverse Architecture. More frequencies could be available in the future, but this is the current line. To sum everything up, the industrial set is a very protected model for harsher conditions. It's completely filled with a special compound, which makes it really well protected from water and dust. It's

2:54 significantly bigger and heavier than other models—around 200 grams. We're also currently testing out explosion-protected versions, which will be commercially available on request. Later, once again, if you have any questions, take a look at our forum, reader manual, and check out other videos on this channel. You can also drop us an email at info at Marvelmind.com. Thank you for your attention, and see you in the next video.

Key Takeaways

  • Industrial-TX and Industrial-RX beacons are engineered for weatherproof operation in harsh warehouse, manufacturing, and logistics environments
  • Industrial beacons tolerate rain and dust exposure but should not exceed environmental design specifications for reliable indoor positioning
  • HW v4.9 beacons are standard office-grade units; Industrial variants offer enhanced durability; Mini-RX provides compact positioning for space-constrained applications
  • Proper beacon selection impacts RTLS reliability for forklift tracking, autonomous robot navigation, and warehouse automation systems
  • Mixed beacon deployments allow operators to optimize costs by using industrial-grade units only where environmental demands require them

👥 Relevant For: Warehouse Operations & Logistics Managers

Warehouse managers, robotics engineers, and logistics professionals implementing RTLS solutions in non-office environments. This content addresses the need for rugged, weatherproof beacons that can survive harsh industrial conditions while maintaining accurate indoor positioning for autonomous systems.

? FAQ

Q: Can Industrial-RX and Industrial-TX beacons be used in wet environments?
Industrial beacons can tolerate rain and dust exposure, making them suitable for non-office environments. However, they should not be continuously submerged or deployed beyond their environmental specifications. Verify exact IP ratings and operating conditions for your specific application.
Q: What's the difference between Industrial-RX and Industrial-TX beacons?
Industrial-RX beacons receive ultrasonic signals for positioning calculations, while Industrial-TX beacons transmit positioning signals. Together, they form the core of an RTLS system for indoor positioning of forklifts, robots, and drones in warehouse environments.
Q: How do Industrial beacons compare to standard HW v4.9 and Mini-RX beacons?
Industrial beacons offer enhanced durability and weatherproofing compared to office-grade HW v4.9 units. Mini-RX beacons are more compact but less rugged. Choose based on your facility's environmental demands and space constraints.
Q: Are Industrial beacons suitable for outdoor warehouse operations?
Industrial beacons tolerate harsh conditions but are designed for controlled non-office environments. For consistent outdoor performance, verify environmental specifications and consider additional protection measures for extreme weather exposure.
Q: Can I mix Industrial, HW v4.9, and Mini-RX beacons in the same RTLS system?
Marvelmind systems can integrate multiple beacon types, allowing you to deploy industrial-grade units in harsh zones while using standard beacons in protected areas of your indoor positioning system.

Industrial Vehicle Positioning System

The Industrial-TX and Industrial-RX beacons represent Marvelmind's solution for rugged indoor positioning in challenging warehouse and industrial environments. Unlike standard beacons designed for office settings, these industrial-grade units are engineered to tolerate rain, dust, and moisture exposure while maintaining system integrity. However, tolerance does not mean suitability for continuous operation in extreme conditions—these beacons survive harsh environments but should not be deployed beyond their design specifications. This comparison video demonstrates how Industrial beacons differ from HW v4.9 and Mini-RX variants across durability, environmental resistance, and performance. Industrial-grade beacons are essential for indoor GPS positioning in warehouses, forklift tracking systems, autonomous robot navigation, and drone operations where equipment encounters moisture and debris. The robust construction ensures long-term reliability in RTLS deployments that would damage standard beacons. Understanding the differences between beacon types is critical for selecting the right indoor positioning system for your specific facility conditions and automation requirements.
