Beacon / Dashboard version mismatching

Post by langlin »

We got 10 new beacon from MarvelMind.

It turns out all beacons are with FW version 5.44.22. The modem is in 5.51.24. My Dashboard is 5.18.

Right now Dashboard can connect to modem but not any of those beacons. What should I do?

One option is to downgrade my Dashboard and upgrade all beacons to 5.51.xx. Then, upgrade back Dashboard to 5.18. Is this the only way?

Dashboard 5.06 cannot connect to those 5.44.22 beacons. This is very strange.

OK. Found DFU programming session. Looking into this option now.

Using DFU Demo 3.0.5 upgraded two of my beacons to 5.51.30. These are 915MHz US beacons.

Now, both are not responding and are red on the map!!! Tried reset them a few times. Still red.

Tried to use modem to flash both of them OTA. Failed in firmware uploading execution. :-(

Ok. After upgrading all 10 beacons, they turn green from red.

OTA FW update is a little hard. Could it be due to 10 devices active at the same time? Carrier frequency 919MHz, Radio profile 500kbps.

Some major SW releases changes the SW protocols so much, that devices have to be DFU programmed.

Regarding OTA, it mostly depends on the radio interference, I assume. With 500kbps it shall take a couple of minutes of less.
USB programming - just 10 seconds or so.
